Mistakes That Prevent Hair Growth

Have you been trying to grow your hair out and nothing seems to be helping?

You may be hurting your hair more than you think if you have been trying to achieve hair growth for months yet have not seen the desired results. It can be frustrating and discouraging but you are not alone.

Bee Natural Box is here to give you all the dos and don'ts on how to grow your hair naturally!

Don'ts

  1. Use the wrong shampoo

  • Always make sure the shampoo you are using does not contain sulfates this will guarantee more moisture to get sealed into hair strands.

2. Shampoo the length of your hair

  • shampooing the length of hair will strip the hair strands of essential oils and can cause the hair to be more frizzy and tangled.

3. Neglect your scalp

  • The scalp is where all the new growth starts so if it isn't cleansed and taken care of properly then most growth will not occur.

  • Co-washing is an excellent method to ensure you are cleansing your scalp correctly. [click on the link below to read our co-washing blog]

4. Skipping Conditioner

  • Conditioner is your hair's best friend since not only it cleanses the hair but locks in moisture to the hair as well.

  • Conditioner is extremely crucial for good hair results as well as growth and should never be skipped when cleansing.

5. Pulling your hair back tightly, such as in a ponytail, bun, or cornrows.

  • Try wearing your hair loosely back instead of in a tight hairstyle that is putting stress on your scalp and hair.

  • Using rubber bands that are specially made for hair will help prevent breakage and damage.

  • Avoiding these kinds of hairstyles all together and trying one that isn't so stressful on the hair.

Now that all of the Don'ts are out of the way, here are some Do's to help promote hair growth!

Dos

  1. Get regular trims

  • Avoid dry, brittle, and split ends by getting trims every six to eight weeks.

2. Rubs scalp daily

  • Co-washing is a great method to use when showering but rubbing the scalp when out of the shower is extremely beneficial as well.

  • Laying over a bed or couch and having the head dangle while rubbing the scalp is a great way to get the blood circulating to the scalp and will help expedite hair growth.

3. Hair masks weekly

  • Hair masks will protect the hair, keeping it strong and frizz-free.

  • Hair masks also help keep the hair moisturized throughout the week.

4. Choose nourishing products

  • The hair products one uses on the hair will have a great effect on hair growth. Make sure the hair products you are applying to your head are made for your specific hair type. If you are unsure what your hair type is, take a quick moment to take the hair quick listed below to help.

Follow these Dos and Don'ts tips and you will see the results in due time. Remember, everyone has different hair types and textures so what may work for a friend might not be the best hair routine for you.

It's all about finding what works best for your hair type and getting into a daily routine. Consistency is key when wanting hair growth results!
